Solar Power Systems

Thank you for visiting our website.
We are here to provide a solar solution to your home or business.

We offer three residential configurations;

  • The NetMetering System consists of a Grid-tie Controller and 12 to 32 panels mounted on your roof (or other suitable rack assembly),
  • The Complete Urban Residential System which consists of all of the NetMetering System components plus a bank of batteries (sufficient to provide a minimum of 96 hours of power) a charge controller and a connector to install a portable generator,
  • The Off-Grid System which is the Complete Urban Residential System without the Grid-tie Controller.
How do we figure out how to size a system for your needs?

You need to examine your last 12 months of electric bills to be able to calculate your average and peak electricity usage to know how to size your system. If you're looking at the NetMetering system, a size that is above your average usage but less than or equal to the peak usage is what we need. Most folks in a 2 or 3 bedroom home will typically use between 2-3kwh per month. A typical 3kwh system is going to cost $32k-$35k installed depending on where and how the panels need to be installed, a standard roof rack or pipe rack is included in that price. If we’re not installing on your roof, other safety issues come into consideration and may cause the installation charges to be slightly higher. Mobile or Manufactured homes with a solar package work well with a pipe rack that straddles the home, the home structure is inadequate to handle the weight and wind forces to ensure it will remain standing. Most homeowners insurance will cover the system with little to no additional cost.

If you can pay for the system outright, great, if not, whatever you are currently budgeting for electric utility service averaged over 12 months is the base price we use to calculate the payment schedule for a second mortgage type loan. In the Gulf Coast region, Entergy will charge you $16/mo for a NetMetering installation and the rest of your monthly budgeted amount can be used for the payment on the solar system. Typical repayment times are between 8 and 12 years but will vary somewhat depending on the size of your installed system. I use 180-208 watt PV panels that are guaranteed to last a minimum of 25 years, so at the end of your repayment schedule (which is something less than half of that time), your electric costs will drop to $16/mo, period, and you will continue to have access to all the electricity you need every day.

What the Netmetering System does is create an "individual savings account" with the electric company that you fill up when the sun is shining and then use back from every night when it’s not. If we size your solar system right, you will always be in the "black", you’re generating more power than you’re using, which means the electric company will owe you at the end of the month. I'm not trying to get you into the category of being a major source of power for the electric company only enough extra to keep you from having to make another "regular" electric payment.

Before we install anything I need to make an onsite survey of your home to determine the best system for your needs and to determine the best place to mount your PV panels. Lead time to get any materials onsite is 14+ days and installation time is 2-3 days depending on how much construction has to be done. If there is any permitting required, we should be able to take care of that part of the process while we’re waiting on the equipment to arrive.
